It’s NaBloPoMo and I’m Too Jetlagged to Po Anything

I must be a glutton for punishment because I signed up for NaBloPoMo knowing that the on the 1st of November I would be on an airplane until the 2nd of November – so failing pretty much right out of the gate.  (NaBloPoMo stands for National Blog Posting Month, in which I should be attempting to write and actually post, each and every day.) I’m currently sitting in a hotel room in Seville, Spain while burrowed under all the covers and listening to the rain, trying to stay awake until #1 child arrives home from school so we can Skype quickly.

I’m so jet lagged that I’m fuzzy headed and thick tongued and will likely confirm the state of idiocy this places me in by actually posting this, but gosh darn it I can’t start out two days behind! The primary reason that I am in this condition of extreme jet lag is because I am one of those lucky people completely incapable of sleeping on an airplane.

We landed at 11:30 this morning in Madrid, and at 1pm were on a high-speed train to Seville. I nearly dozed off a half-dozen times but my husband woke me up each time, bless his heart.

If you are following along this week you will hopefully read some travel-related posts and you will definitely read a few book reviews that I’m excited to share.

I’m looking forward to exploring Seville and eating a lot of tapas. This should be interesting because my total knowledge of Spanish comes from a combination of Dora the Explorer (so I sound REALLY! EXCITED!) and old Steve Martin routines (“Donde esta la casa de pepe”), and I’m routinely confusing the few words I do know with their Italian or French relations.

This should be a delight.

It was  a delight to remember that a glass of wine costs far less than a bottle of water or can of Coca Cola here, so I plan on drinking a lot of wine, too.

Can I just apologize in advance here?

So stay tuned for my adventures in Spain. I’ll try to post more than endless photos of tapas and wine.

Wait. Wine is cheaper than water? I need to move there. I joined NaBloPoMo (in spite of the fact I have to look up how to spell it every single time) on the 2nd and just double posted that day. I can’t decide if that’s brilliant or cheating. Post lots of pictures so we can visit Spain virtually with you!

Its not cheating in my book. I likely would gave backdated one (which is cheating but who cares, two posts in one day is better than no posts.)

I have also discovered that if I’m writing in my notebook between tapas dishes, they wait until I put the book away. Which means I drink all my wine and need another glass with the paella.

      Thus place is dangerous.

You will find that your Italian will help you with Spanish. Lots of similar words. I look forward to your exploring the city in pictures! Have a wonderful time. Remember, you are an experienced traveler!!
