Book Review: The Hollows by Jess Montgomery
I fell in love with an earlier fiction book written by author Jess Montgomery under her given name. So of course, when I learned she’d be writing historical fiction under this, her pen name, I promptly ordered the book. That book was The Widows (and fantastic). The Hollows is the second book in her new Kinship series and it did not disappoint. Read on to learn more about this engaging story. Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC of this novel. Some links in this post are affiliate links that earn me a commission if you purchase through them. All opinions are my own. Thoughts on The…

I Read 67 Books in 2019. (67-ish.)
Goodreads has reported that I read 67 books in 2019. This beats my goal of 50, so at least I can say I definitively kicked butt on ONE of my goals for 2019. (Let’s not talk about the others, which all involve writing.) I realized that this is NOT a complete list, as this list primarily covers all the books I have REVIEWED for NetGalley. It was way more, and my baseboards prove it. (So does my waistline, sadly.) It doesn’t include a few I’ve finished but still need to review (shhh), and it probably doesn’t include anything I checked out from the library. We won’t talk about the plethora…

Five Christmas Romances to Curl Up with this December
Confession: I find it difficult to get into Christmas novels when it’s (1) not even Thanksgiving and (2) it’s still 97º here in Texas. I was naughty. I waited until closer to Thanksgiving to begin to read these five lovely, uplifting Christmas romances and then share them with YOU in December, when you’re REALLY in the Christmas spirit. Except that this year has been more disorganized than most, so I’m even later getting this out. Which, really, should be perfect timing, actually. You’ve probably knocked out most of your list over Black Friday and Cyber Monday (well done, you)! Now, you’re looking for something to curl up with while you…

Book Review: Why Stuff Matters by Jen Waldo
Why Stuff Matters is the second book written by author Jen Waldo. Her debut novel Old Buildings in North Texas was a funny, quirky, and slightly dark work of fiction that felt truly original (you can find my review here). This novel was a strong follow up to her first and did not disappoint – I loved it! While the author has returned to her Caprock, Texas setting, this is a standalone book. Read on to learn more about the book and author. I was provided a copy of the book for review purposes; this post may contain affiliate links.
