Book Review – Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
I loved Andy Weir’s upcoming release Project Hail Mary so much I want to shove a copy in everyone’s hands – it was that much fun. Clever, exciting, funny, smart, and fast paced…I could go on. (And I do, in my review below!) Read on to learn more about the book (but just a little) and why I loved it (a lot). I received an advanced copy of the book from the publish via NetGalley; all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links that may earn me a commission if you purchase through them. Past Due Book Review: Wilder Girls by Rory Power
When I wrote my review of Rory Power’s second novel Burn Our Bodies Down, I made a disappointing discovery. I hadn’t finished my review for her debut novel Wilder Girls here on the blog! In spite of how I shouted my love of it to the world on social media, I hadn’t finished the review here. Obviously, I’m rectifying this right now, because holy crap, this was a great book! Under the heading of better late than never, here’s my review, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should. Books to Help Understand Anti-Racism and Race
Wanting to be a better white ally means learning about systemic racism. To do that, we need to dig a little deeper into U.S. history, because we’re simply not taught it fully in school, at least in a way that we understand the nuances and all that shaped how we ended up where we all are today. Fiction provides an excellent means to see and feel things from a different perspective. Putting both together marries the factual aspects…

Recursion by Blake Crouch – Book Review
The 2016 release of Dark Matter completely blew me away, but I think Blake Crouch topped that novel with Recursion. (And not just because he over-scienced my brain in Dark Matter.) Read on to find out why! Thanks to Crown Publishing and NetGalley for providing an ARC for review. This post also contains affiliate links. My coffee habit thanks you. Recursion is a wild ride by the one author who makes me feel like I nearly grasp quantum physics. Knowing that there is usually some sort of actual technology/emerging sciencey-thing that sparks the idea for his unique blend of scifi/thriller/mystery novel is mind-bending in its own right. This is a…

Book Review: Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
Review Dark Matter by Blake Crouch came out today in paperback, and if you haven’t read it yet – I’m going to tell you about it as best I can without TELLING you about it. (And also – WHY haven’t you read it yet?) This is one of those books that is a tightrope scenario for reviewers – we have to tread carefully, because if you give too much away, it spoils ALL the fun. And I wouldn’t want to do that. I want your mind blown as much as mine was. In fact, just avoid ANY AND ALL reviews that talk even a smidgen about the plot line. They are the…
