Fill in the Blank Friday

1. The holiday season is about traditions and families and counting blessings. I love the memories particular ornaments on the tree evoke, singing Christmas songs with my kids, wrapping presents, baking treats and sharing them with friends.
2. Snow makes me cold. Despite living outside of Chicago nearly my entire life, I have no tolerance to the cold. And I dread seeing any snow here, since we only have “grit” to put on the road to our house, and no snowplow will ever see our lane.
3. The best comfort food to eat when it’s cold out is grilled cheese and tomato soup. Ooooh – or chili. I love chili and cornbread. Yum.
4. Winter is the best time for curling up with a cup of tea in front of the fire and introducing all my favorite old movies to my kids. I’m so much an indoor girl when the weather gets cold..
6. When it comes to holiday gifts I prefer to give them, particularly when I can find *just* the right thing for the recipient. I really, really hate giving gift cards, even though I know that is what some people like – it feels so impersonal to me. (I also have a really hard time asking for things, even if it is Christmas.)
7. If I were to rate my excitement about the holiday season on a scale from 1-10, I would say I am at about an 8. My tree and decorations are up, Christmas cards are in the mail and my Christmas shopping is nearly finished (do you hear me, Mom? It’s hard to tell what you really want from 3,000 miles away). I’m ready to turn on the Christmas music, make some cocoa and start wrapping!
Are you ready for Christmas??? How would you fill in the blanks?

I miss making Christmas cookies, too. When you come home we have to start again…even if it means travelling!

Dude…you’re hatin’ on ME?
YOU spent Thanksgiving in Italy. You’re totally allowed to be behind. Until now. Go shop.
If it makes you feel better, I have wrapped nothing.
Not. One. Thing.
And while I’ve bought everything the Hubs suggested, that basically amounts to 3 teensy things for both Christmas and early January birthday. And I’m stumped.
Shit.
