Show Me Saturdays: What I See

Most mornings, this is the first thing I see when I open my eyes. There is no need for an alarm clock. Her stomach is more accurate than an atomic clock. On days when my husband is home, she leaves me to sleep. She knows if she tries, I will roll over and ignore her until 6:30 a.m., so she will pester my husband to be let out at 5:30 a.m., every morning, like clockwork.  Because I have scolded him in the past for feeding her so early (and establishing a bad habit),  after letting her out for a morning wee he will now return to bed. At least…

    Saturday is Caption Day

At the Hay Festival earlier this week, Pea discovered this BIG head, a gift to the Festival from Mexico. (Wouldn’t a cake have done just as well?) Pea found it quite grouchy looking, and I think their shared expression needs a caption!!!   Now, head on over to Mammasaurus for more captioning fun!

    Saturday is Caption Day!

I caught my daughter hamming it up at National Sea Life Aquarium in Birmingham recently. This one is begging for a caption so give it your best go! If you aren’t captioned out, the head back to  Mammsaurus for more captioning fun!!!

    Her Alter Ego….Captured

My daughter is adorable. I will admit this freely, not solely based on parental pride but on the simple fact that she is really IS cute. I mean, seriously — look at that face! But. THIS is the face her teachers see. This is the face her friends see. This is the face that I see approximately 75% most of the time. The rest of the time, she is…well….erm….a bit of a holy terror. All that strong will, all that single mindedness, all that orderly organization “everything in its place in a particular order JUST SO” does have a flip side… …and that side ain’t pretty. Even so, she isn’t one to…

    Colors of La Boqueria

I dragged a reluctant husband and one tired child (Boo) and one surprisingly bouncy child (Pea) down Las Ramblas in Barcelona yesterday because I wanted to see La Boqueria. It was completely worth the long, crowded walk ( although I’m ultimately pleased with our hotel choice in the less crowded L’Eixample neighborhood.) The market was energetic and colorful – I wanted to take in (and take home one of) everything! While I don’t think the Hubs much liked the crowds, I loved the colors and flavors of the market (and the kids loved the fresh juices). And this is my gratuitous photo post for myself.

    The Gallery: Chillin’ Out

I’m a Type-A kinda gal. I probably need to “chill out” a bit more than I do. When I do need to take a break, my FAV place is my big, comfy chair. Curled up with a book, a cuppa, and a biscuit. Or two. (Don’t judge.)  Add an afghan if its chilly, and maybe the puppy draped over my feet on the footstool.  Perfect.   However, my ultimate chill out (which we won’t quite get this year) is on the beach at the Outer Banks, with a book in hand. Not the prettiest self-portrait ever, but at that particular moment, I just didn’t care. Now THAT is chillin’ out.…

    The Gallery: Tomorrow

This is such a late entry to The Gallery that it almost IS tomorrow. As I was contemplating this week’s theme, yet another squabble broke about between my two – and I flashed back to a time when they were younger and got on much better together. A time like this: This photo was taken when my kiddos were two and four. She LURVED him, and he was, well,  pretty tolerant of her. Today? Not so much so, at least in the mutual tolerance department. They fight like cats and dogs. She only needs to look at him cross-eyed, and I hear a wail of “Muuuuuuum”. This is the same…
