Monday Reads: Seeing Red by Sandra Brown

I’ve been a fan of Sandra Brown for years, so I was excited when her new book Seeing Red crossed my desk! I love a good mystery, and she is the queen of mixing mystery and romance. Read on for my review!   Review of Seeing Red Sandra Brown delivers another successful thriller in Seeing Red. True to fashion, this suspenseful book has her trademark plot twists; I wasn’t sure who to trust, or what was coming next. Her plots are always well constructed, and this one does not disappoint. I’ve long been a fan of her writing style, as she brings together a great mix of tension offset by…

Book Review – The Simplicity of Cider (& Giveaway)

I’ve been nose deep in a book for weeks now – as my dusty tables and dog hair-littered floors can attest. Today I’m featuring wonderful book from Amy Reichert titled The Simplicity of Cider. If you have not read this yet (she’s wonderful), there’s a giveaway further down so you have the chance to win your own copy!     Review It almost feels like the wrong season for this book to be released as apple season is still a few months away – and this story will leave you with a longing for apple cider donuts or one of Sanna’s crisp ciders. Despite the pastry cravings, I’m glad I didn’t have to wait for Amy Reichert’s return…

Review: Debris & Detritus, The Lesser Greek Gods Running Amok

Someone once tried to convince me that anthologies were books for people with short attention spans. I prefer to think of them as a word buffet, with a multitude of delicious varied tastes, and I appreciate them because I can also devour them in small bites (if I can show self-restraint). If you feel the same, I have just the book for you: Debris & Detritus, The Lesser Greek Gods Running Amok.  And much like me viewing a dessert buffet, complete with chocolate fountain, I wasn’t able to resist devouring this in one sitting. Debris & Detritus, The Lesser Greek Gods Running Amok Authors: Patricia Burroughs, Michelle Muenzler, Robin D Owens, Irene…

    Two Christmas Romances

I’ll be honest: I could have (and should have) titled this post “Two Christmas Romances featuring Overly Considerate and Infuriating Men” because the main male characters in each spend a lot of the book fighting against their feelings because they want to protect the main female characters from getting their hearts broken – by them. But that title is hell on SEO so I had to keep it short and simple.  I enjoyed both of the books, and since I spent most of each wanting to throttle both characters for their thoughtful (and, yes, let’s call a spade a spade) somewhat self-absorbed justification (because really, they could have gotten their hearts broken just as…

What I’m Reading Wednesday – Order of Seven

While I look forward to the end of homework and packed lunches and crazy schedules, summer vacation also means the end of order as I know it. Soon, my quiet time to read and write will go hand in hand with the kidlings’ time spent with the Disney Channel or the X-Box. With that in mind, I’ve been doing even more reading than writing because I have so many great books stacked on the side table and lined up on my Kindle. One book read in record time is this week’s pick for What I’m Reading Wednesday: ORDER OF SEVEN by Beth Teliho. Reading the blurb on the back of the book, my…
