Book Review: The Little Shop of Found Things by Paula Brackston
The danger of writing at the library is that I rarely leave without grabbing a few books from the “New Books” section, no matter how many books are waiting at home. The Little Shop of Found Things was one such find and I’m so glad I picked it up. Read on to learn more about this book that blends historical fiction and fantasy. This post contains affiliate links. The Little Shop of Found Things is the start of a new series by author Paula Brackston. (However, it works well as a standalone if series and cliff hangers put you off.) It’s a lovely blend of historical fiction and fantasy/magical realism…

One Summer in Paris by Sarah Morgan
One Summer in Paris is a lovely, easy read that is perfect for fans of Susan Mallery, Elin Hilderbrand or Mary Kay Andrews. I was delighted to receive a review copy from NetGalley. (As usual, all opinions are my own. And yes, this review does include affiliate links should you want to grab a copy for yourself!) In One Summer in Paris, two very different women escape from their current lives and travel to Paris. In doing so, each discovers herself. The chapters alternate between two female characters. Author Sarah Morgan does an excellent job balancing the two storylines which intersect midway through the book. They are an unlikely duo,…

The Matchmaker’s List by Sonya Lalli – A Book Review
I was given an advanced reader copy of The Matchmaker’s List by NetGalley and I couldn’t put it down. I also struggled a bit with how to review it, as I hate spoilers, and this one has a doozy of a plot device midway through might make your eye twitch a bit with discomfort. Ultimately, though, I really enjoyed the story. Read on for my review, which contains affiliate links (because this girl needs her coffee). The Matchmaker’s List is described as a romantic comedy, but I think it is so much more than that – I’d put it firmly into women’s fiction, as this is not all light and fluffy,…

My first read of the season will be this one by a favorite Texas author, Jodi Thomas, as she returns with another addition to her Ransom Canyon series with Mistletoe Miracles. Lone Star Book Blog Tour: A Borrowed Dream by Amanda Cabot
I’m linking up with Lone Star Book Blog Tours where we are featuring A Borrowed Dream by author Amanda Cabot, the just-released second installment in her Cimarron Creek historical romance trilogy. Amanda Cabot mixes a touch of humor and suspense in this lovely (non-preachy) inspirational fiction. As an aspiring writer myself, I always jump at the chance to interview the author or host a guest post because I’m fascinated with the behind the scenes part of the process. In A Borrowed Dream, protagonist Catherine Whitfield holds a major distrust of the local doctor, and Amanda’s guest post offers a deeper look into the “healing” practices at the time (which is…
