You’re Not ALL That (aka the “things I won’t miss” list)
Yesterday, I wrote about all the things I will miss when I move back to the U.S.
In the interest of fair disclosure, there are a FEW things that I won’t be so sad to leave behind.
- Head lice.
- The lack of mesh window screens. If I had a pound for every bee/wasp/fly/dragonfly I have killed in the past few years…
- People snickering when I “mispronounce” words
- ” ” “” when I say “pants”.
- Rain
- Spiders. everywhere.
- Spider webs. EVERYWHERE.
- Hard water
- Not having a shower in my house. (A bath is nice every now and again, but not first thing in the morning.)
- Cool summers/summers without sunshine (this year was the worst)
- Head lice.
- Being confused for a tourist because of my American (“are you Canadian?”) accent.
- Being confused for a Canadian. HELLO.
- The indifference of shop clerks.
- Cadbury’s chocolate. (Yes, I happen to LIKE Hershey’s. It’s all what you were brought up on, people.)
- Rain
- Did I mention head lice?
I’ll stop there, because I don’t want to sound whiny.
And to clarify – yes, head lice does exist in the US, but not to the extent that I have experienced it here. In fact, I NEVER experienced it personally until I moved here. I won’t discuss how many times my daughter has shared it with me. *shudders*
*To my friends at home: we do NOT have a problem with this now. It is ok to hug us when you see us.*
Overall, though, it isn’t a big list.
And I’ll end this with a thought:
PANTS PANTS PANTS!

What should you say instead of pants?
