    I *HEART* Twitter

Today’s writing prompt asked me to share some of my favorite tweets. I’ve catalogued 10,049 tweets. Obviously, I can’t go through them all, but I did make it through the last year’s worth. What I found? I tweet a lot about the puppy, my kids, whining, the other wine, and coffee. Don’t believe me? I find that I tweet quite a bit about my kids, and to be honest? Mostly about my daughter, her tantrums, and the incredibly slow pace with which she approaches life: Last year, I spent a lot of time tweeting about the puppy and the chaos that follows her:   Thankfully, she has turned into a…

A Question to Sink Your Teeth Into

Yesterday, Boo lost another tooth. Acting on behalf of the tooth fairy, I swapped out the tooth for a one-pound coin. (Damn the mum of the friend that left a fiver – that was a joy to explain…let’s just say that, just as my kids know that the Santa’s at the malls, fetes, and whatnot are helpers because Santa needs to be working on his list and sorting out toys, I explained that sometimes a mum thinks that a child should get more, and so they sneak in and take the coin and leave a bigger amount.) Because, you know, the tooth fairy can’t carry more than a quid. Anyhoo,…

(It Should Be) Wordless Wednesday…(But It’s Not)

I had several lovely photos all picked out for Wordless Wednesday from yesterday’s St. David’s Day assembly…but then it occurred to me that my non-Welsh followers (all six of you) aren’t familiar with St. David, the patron saint of Wales, so a little background info would be helpful. St. David is the patron saint of Wales, and his feast day, March 1 is a national day of celebration in Wales. For the school celebration, there were many little girls wearing traditional Welsh costumes (a flannel or wool dress, apron, shawl, and hat), and  the boys were quite happy to wear red shirts that said “Cymru” (Wales) or Welsh Rugby shirts.…

    Her “Special” Teeth

I think all the attention Boo is getting as a result of his problematic choppers is stepping on Pea’s toes. She’s been asking when SHE gets to go to Hereford and “get” one of her teeth pulled out. I think Boo finally set her straight tonight…but not before she shared this little gem: P: “Momma, I’ve got a special tooth” M: “Special teeth? You do, do you?” P: “Yes, I have a special tooth. It’s right” (tapping her front tooth) “here” (tapping again) Momma stifles a laugh and hides a smile. “What is so special about that tooth?” P: “THIS is a special tooth because SOMETIMES it is very clean”.…

I Know Its Only Tuesday…but it Feels Like A Week Of Mondays

Today was, quite simply put, a mess.  I managed to walk the dog and go to the gym before getting a call from the school asking me to come in and bring Boo some painkiller for his tooth. I took one look at him, and brought him home – he looked miserable. And when the sobbing started, I mad-dialed the dentist, and begged for them to see him. Lucky for me, they had a cancellation. In 30 minutes. The drive to the dentist is 45. Nothing like driving in desperation to make the anxiety meter creep up just a little bit. Actually, you could chalk up the past week to…

Fill In the Blank Friday: Magazine Love

{photo via weheartit} This week’s fill in the blank friday topic is courtesy of Leesh at The Blarkness Chronicles (which is super cool, because, seriously, I don’t know how Lauren at The little Things We Do can come up with these things every week)…. and it’s all about magazines. This is a touchy subject for me because all my favorite magazines are not sold over here. I managed to get my existing subscriptions forwarded here when we moved, but *sniff* all the subscriptions have run out. I was told that I would not be able to renew at US rates, but instead at the wallet-breaking international rates, so I have…
