Fill in the Blank Friday – Guilty Pleasures
I really love this particular meme because it is purely fun. Today’s blanks were dreamed up by Miss Shaunie from Unknown-Boutique, so be sure to check out her blog and give her some bloggie love on her new adventure! (I’m a sucker for thrift store finds, so I’m happy to discover her blog.) 1. The TV show/website that I watch/read that I would be embarrassed to tell anyone about is America’s Next Top Model. It’s definitely an escape from MY reality – why else would I watch a bunch of scrawny, beautiful barely 20year olds have hissy fits and stress over not looking “fierce”? And also because I’m the least…

Her “Special” Teeth
I think all the attention Boo is getting as a result of his problematic choppers is stepping on Pea’s toes. She’s been asking when SHE gets to go to Hereford and “get” one of her teeth pulled out. I think Boo finally set her straight tonight…but not before she shared this little gem: P: “Momma, I’ve got a special tooth” M: “Special teeth? You do, do you?” P: “Yes, I have a special tooth. It’s right” (tapping her front tooth) “here” (tapping again) Momma stifles a laugh and hides a smile. “What is so special about that tooth?” P: “THIS is a special tooth because SOMETIMES it is very clean”.…

(Almost*) Wordless Wednesday: Signs of Spring
*This Wordless Wednesday photo is dedicated to all my Chicago friends who likely won’t see their snow-burnt green(ish) grass until March, given the winter they’ve had so far. Everywhere you look here, snowdrops are blooming. It’s a lovely and hopeful sight.

The Root of All Evil (or, the Dentist Cometh)
My Boo is the bravest little boy I know. I’m sure my UK peeps are wondering “what’s the big deal”, but I must confess that I am one who needs a hit of nitrous oxide before the dentist can give me a shot of Novocaine, I get so nervous. Yes, we Americans are pampered a bit in the dentist chair and I wouldn’t have it any other way given the choice…I also have a very high tolerance to Novocaine, so I tend to get more than one shot myself in the course of any dental work….so the dentist really does strike fear into my heart. Continuing the saga of the abscessed tooth,…

Project We: Yellow
Last week’s “Project We” subject was “yellow” and I will fully admit that my entry is late because, well, I was really lacking inspiration. Yellow is not my favorite color. Yellow also has a lot of negative connotations: a person can be “yellow-bellied” or have a “yellow streak”. It’s not often associated as being a healthy color, be it jaundice (looking yellow) or the shade of infectious…erm…stuff. You can catch Yellow Fever (and it’s nothing like Dance Fever.) It’s symbolic for “caution”. Yellow-jackets are not friendly insects. You don’t eat yellow snow. I SHOULD consider it a happy color. Sunflowers are happy. Canaries sound happy enough. I love me a…

I Know Its Only Tuesday…but it Feels Like A Week Of Mondays
Today was, quite simply put, a mess. I managed to walk the dog and go to the gym before getting a call from the school asking me to come in and bring Boo some painkiller for his tooth. I took one look at him, and brought him home – he looked miserable. And when the sobbing started, I mad-dialed the dentist, and begged for them to see him. Lucky for me, they had a cancellation. In 30 minutes. The drive to the dentist is 45. Nothing like driving in desperation to make the anxiety meter creep up just a little bit. Actually, you could chalk up the past week to…

Fill In the Blank Friday: Magazine Love
{photo via weheartit} This week’s fill in the blank friday topic is courtesy of Leesh at The Blarkness Chronicles (which is super cool, because, seriously, I don’t know how Lauren at The little Things We Do can come up with these things every week)…. and it’s all about magazines. This is a touchy subject for me because all my favorite magazines are not sold over here. I managed to get my existing subscriptions forwarded here when we moved, but *sniff* all the subscriptions have run out. I was told that I would not be able to renew at US rates, but instead at the wallet-breaking international rates, so I have…

The last thing that made me laugh REALLY hard…
The last thing that made me laugh really hard….the “bring tears to your eyes” kind of laugh…the kind that leaves you flopping on your sofa, gasping for oxygen… …was this scene from “Couples Retreat”. Seriously. Ok, so the movie in total wasn’t the funniest…or best… I’ve seen, despite the great cast…but there were two scenes…one at the beginning, and one at the end…. Why is it so funny? Because, if you are a parent, you can easily see this happening. Oh, the mortification… (The lead in is a little long on this video…but stay with it.) I thought my husband was going to hyperventilate. Really. Because at the start of…

Sweet as Pie…or Cupcakes
One of the many things that I have been meaning to write about is this last week’s prompt for Project We: ~ sweet ~ I have a sweet tooth. A big one. I love chocolate. I love cake. I love chocolate cake. I have found a new love in Chocolate covered mint creme Oreo’s that my mom sent over last week (*thanks, Mom*). I can say with all honestly that they are even better than the Girl Scout Thin Mints (which are equally impossible to get over here). And yes, while probably not the most Weight Watcher’s friendly, if I eat my veggies I can leave a few points for…
